The People’s Network for the Integrity of Coastal Habitats and Ecosystems (People’s NICHE) stressed its urgency as a recent policy dialogue with government agencies and local government units (LGU) working on Manila Bay was held.
The dialogue sought to inquire into efforts of local and national executive government agencies to ensure the human rights due diligence of 25 land reclamation projects covering more than 31,000 hectares of foreshore areas.
Regulators were also urged to initiate a bay-wide audit of these reclamation projects’ human rights track records.
